When to Call Your Pediatric Provider Right Away
Some symptoms require prompt medical attention. Contact our office immediately if your child experiences:
- A temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher in an infant younger than 3 months.
- Repeated fevers above 104°F (40°C).
- A persistent fever, particularly when accompanied by worsening symptoms.
- Repeated vomiting or diarrhea, or signs of dehydration such as fewer wet diapers or decreased urination.
- Severe ear pain, a significant sore throat, or difficulty swallowing.
- A worsening cough, wheezing, or other breathing concerns.
- An unusual rash accompanied by fever.
- A persistent or worsening headache or abdominal pain.
Infants under 3 months with fever require immediate medical evaluation. Some conditions may require emergency department care rather than an office appointment.
For a life-threatening emergency, including severe difficulty breathing, unresponsiveness, uncontrolled bleeding, or a serious injury, call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately. Do not wait for an office appointment.
After-Hours Pediatric Care
We understand that children do not always become ill during regular office hours.
When our offices are closed, after-hours telephone triage services are available to help families determine the appropriate next steps for their child’s medical concerns.
Please call your regular Panda Bear Pediatrics office number for instructions on reaching after-hours assistance.
Our after-hours services are intended to provide guidance for medical concerns that cannot wait until the office reopens. They are not a substitute for emergency medical services.
An Alternative to Urgent Care for Common Childhood Illnesses
When your child is sick, you may not need to visit an urgent care center.
For many common childhood illnesses and minor injuries, Panda Bear Pediatrics can provide timely evaluation and treatment in a familiar setting, with access to your child’s medical history and ongoing care team.
Our goal is to provide convenient, coordinated pediatric care while helping families avoid unnecessary visits to urgent care facilities when an office appointment is appropriate and available.
