Prenatal Visits — Getting to Know Your Pediatrician
We welcome expectant parents to schedule a prenatal visit with our practice.
A prenatal visit provides an opportunity to meet one of our pediatric providers, learn about Panda Bear Pediatrics, and ask questions before your baby arrives.
During your visit, you can:
- Meet a pediatric provider and learn about our approach to pediatric care.
- Discuss what to expect during your baby’s first days and weeks.
- Learn about newborn appointments, routine checkups, and immunizations.
- Ask questions about feeding, sleep, and common newborn concerns.
- Learn about our office hours, scheduling, and after-hours care.
- Become familiar with our practice before your baby’s arrival.
We believe that establishing a relationship with your pediatrician before your baby is born helps build trust and confidence as you prepare for this exciting new chapter.
Newborn Care — Supporting Your Baby’s Healthy Start
The first weeks and months of your baby’s life are a time of rapid growth and development.
Regular newborn visits provide opportunities to monitor your baby’s health, evaluate growth and feeding, and answer questions as your family adjusts to life with a newborn.
Our pediatric providers offer guidance and personalized care to help you understand your baby’s changing needs.
Newborn visits may include:
- Growth and Weight Monitoring: Tracking your baby’s weight, length, and head circumference to assess healthy growth.
- Feeding and Nutrition: Discussing breastfeeding, formula feeding, feeding frequency, and signs that your baby is getting enough nutrition.
- Physical Examinations: Evaluating your baby’s overall health and monitoring common newborn concerns, including jaundice.
- Developmental Milestones: Reviewing your baby’s early development, reflexes, movement, and responses.
- Sleep and Safety: Providing guidance on safe sleep practices and creating a healthy environment for your baby.
- Newborn Screenings and Immunizations: Reviewing hospital screening results and discussing recommended preventive care.
- Parent Questions: Addressing concerns about crying, bowel movements, skin changes, sleep patterns, and other aspects of newborn care.
Our goal is to provide reassurance, guidance, and timely medical attention whenever questions or concerns arise.
Your Baby’s First Pediatric Appointments
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that newborns receive regular preventive healthcare beginning shortly after birth.
At Panda Bear Pediatrics, our newborn care schedule generally includes:
- 3–5 Days After Birth: Initial newborn examination, including assessment of feeding, weight, jaundice, and overall health.
- 2 Weeks: Follow-up visit to review growth, feeding, and adjustment to life at home.
- 1 Month: Routine well-child examination and developmental assessment.
- 2 Months: Well-child visit, developmental review, and recommended immunizations.
Additional visits may be recommended based on your baby’s individual medical needs.
As your baby grows, we continue providing regular well-child examinations, immunizations, developmental screenings, and preventive healthcare throughout childhood and adolescence.
Supporting New Parents
We understand that caring for a newborn brings many questions, especially for first-time parents.
You may wonder whether your baby is eating enough, sleeping normally, gaining weight appropriately, or reaching developmental milestones.
Our pediatric providers are here to listen, answer questions, and provide practical guidance based on your baby’s individual needs.
We encourage parents to ask questions and share any concerns during their baby’s visits. Building a trusted relationship with your child’s pediatric care team is an important part of supporting healthy development.

Panda Bear Pediatrics offers convenient appointment hours at both our Gilbertsville and Collegeville offices, including evening appointments until 8:00 PM two nights per week at each location.
